Beth Peloff, Minnesota, received $8,500 to support Searching for Feminists, an animated documentary exploring the generational differences in the attitudes that women have toward feminism. Through a combination of audio interviews and a variety of animation techniques, the artist will weave together the voices and stories of women under the age of thirty and over the age of sixty-five in an effort to reconcile the feminism of the future with the feminism of the past and explore the commonalities of experiences across the generations.

Performance Space 122 received $50,000 to support emerging artists’ commissions and residency fees for 2016-17.

Junauda Petrus and Mychal Fisher, Minnesota, received $10,000 to support Sankara, a web series (7 episodes ranging in length from 10-15 minutes) based in Minneapolis, Minnesota that follows the lives of a community of young, complex, wise, transcending Black and Brown folk who are navigating their inner depths, love relationships, laughter and wildness in ways that are both tender and profound.

Philanthropy New York received $1,200 ($450 grant / $750 admin) to support membership for the Foundation.

Pillsbury House Theatre (part of the Pillsbury United Communities), Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $30,000 over two years in support of the development of new works by emerging Minnesota and New York City playwrights as part of the mainstage programming, including the annual new play reading series THREE MONDAYS in 2017 and 2018.

Elise Rasmussen, New York City, received $5,000 to travel to South Africa to research and gather resource material for a new project on the rhinoceros in its natural habitat, the effects of colonialism and post-apartheid on poaching and how communities are getting involved to prevent the extinction of this animal.

Red Eye Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $66,000 over two years in support of emerging Minnesota-based artists in New Works 4 Weeks in 2017 and 2018.

Rhizome received $40,000 ($20,000 per year for two years) to support commissions and microgrants to emerging New York City-based artists for 2016 and 2017.

Dempsey Rice, New York City, received $15,000 in support of The Animated Mind of Oliver Sacks, a documentary film that brings to life ten years of extraordinary conversations with author and neurologist Oliver Sacks, M.D., painting a portrait of his pursuits and his uniquely agile mind.

Rochester Art Center received $46,000 ($23,000 per year for two years) to support the Emerging Artists Program for 2017 and 2018.
