Kathleen Maloney, Managing Director of Intermedia Arts, received $1,000 to spend six days in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Santa Monica and San Diego, California. The trip is to learn about other multidisciplinary and media centers; to become familiar with the technical and operational aspects of other presenting and gallery spaces; and to improve and validate her own skills as an administrator. Maloney will investigate how other media center have adapted to changing artists' needs and burgeoning technologies and how they've shaped their services as artists' needs dictate. Among the organizations she'll visit are Film Arts Foundation, Life on the Water and Intersections for the Arts in San Francisco; the Museum of Contemporary Art and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions in Los Angeles; Sushi and Border Arts Workshop in San Diego and Highways in Santa Monica.
